To operate independently, the self-employed manager has the choice between creating his own structure or using the wage portage.

Wage portage is a simple, regulated and effective solution. This tripartite contract between an employer, a “freelancer” and a freelance administration company allows its signatories to simplify and secure their relationship. The “freelancer” is hired by the “portage” company, which delegates him/her to a client company for the duration of his/her assignment. All administrative, legal, financial and insurance tasks are taken care of by the carrier company.

37% (Opinion Way survey) of French people say they want to become an entrepreneur but the fear of tax and administrative management as well as the fear of a self-employed status often prevent them from taking the step.

A collective agreement, just signed with the various social partners and the companies of portage salarial, comes to frame this new type of contract. In addition to the flexibility and the quality of life that the “porté salarié” finds, the latter keeps a status of employee with all the advantages that this confers.

The agreement specifies the essential characteristics of the ported employee: autonomy, qualification and expertise. It distinguishes between three categories of employees: junior, senior and fixed day employees. The qualification is measured by the level of education or the number of years of experience.

With the legitimacy that this collective agreement finally gives it, freelance administration becomes the ideal solution for companies that wish to hire the services of a consultant, an expert or an experienced manager for the duration of an assignment. It also meets the expectations of all those who want to work according to their own rules, for a remuneration that they themselves have set and at a time of their choosing. By giving companies access to much broader expertise, the new collective agreement allows freelance administration to appear as an innovative solution to certain human resources management issues. It opens the door to significant performance gains for companies and increased freedom for employees.
